All You Need To Know About FY 2024 H-1B Cap Filing: Registration Opens on March 1
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the registration period for the fiscal year 2024 H-1B cap will open on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at noon EST and end on Friday, March 17, 2023 at noon EST.
Where should you start?
Employers may start submitting H1B registrations on March 1. However, prior to registration starting, users should first set up an “MY USCIS” online account. The earliest time they will be able to create an online My USCIS new account is on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at noon EST. The entire process of the H1B application will be completed through an online My USCIS account. Employers will be able to submit registrations for multiple beneficiaries in one single online session. We suggest employers start early leaving enough time to prepare, register and revise registration information before final payment and submission.
Registration Fees
The H1B registration costs $10 in the registration fee. Employers may submit the $10 H-1B registration fee on behalf of each beneficiary.
What are the chances of getting selected in FY2024 H1B?
It is expected that USCIS will receive enough registrations by March 17 to randomly select 65,000 registrations and 20,000 additional registrations with advanced degree exemptions. The advanced degree exemption is intended for applicants with Master’s and Ph.D. degrees. The results of selection notifications will be sent to account holders through my USCIS online accounts by March 31. While it’s uncertain how many registrants will apply for H1b this year, we can forecast the likelihood of getting selected in the FY2024 H1B to be around 17.6% based on the result of 17.6% based on the result of FY 2023 H1B lottery.
What are the changes to FY2024 H1B?
Responding to the increased volume of 484K registrations in the FY 2023 H1B lottery, the U.S. Department of Treasury has approved a temporary increase in the daily credit card transaction limit from $24,999.99 to $39,999.99 for FY 2024 H1B season. What this means is that the USCIS is anticipating a high volume of applicants this cycle.
